Key Responsibilities

As an Experienced Benefits Customer Service Representative, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing exceptional customer service to clients via phone, email, and instant messaging
  • Building rapport and responding to client concerns in a compassionate and respectful manner
  • Handling confidential information with sensitivity and discretion, adhering to HIPAA and Data Privacy laws and company data security requirements
  • Translating complex plan information and processes into simple explanations and instructions that clients can understand and act upon
  • Reading and understanding client plan documents and online knowledgebase tools to determine immediate requests/questions and anticipate future needs
  • Demonstrating knowledge, understanding, and compliance with company and client procedures and guidelines, providing accurate and timely information
  • Maintaining and documenting complete and accurate call and case notes in a professional manner
  • Regularly participating in team meetings and training to stay up-to-date on industry developments and best practices
  • Performing other duties as assigned to support the team and drive business results

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and respond to client concerns in a compassionate and respectful manner
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly assess client concerns and formulate a response/resolution
  • Ability to work in a structured environment, adhering to posted work schedules and protocols
  • High level attention to detail, multi-tasking, and ability to organize work
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, with a strong ability to juggle multiple open computer windows to answer questions while on the phone/instant messaging
  • Ability to work autonomously in a self-paced, self-motivated team environment
  • Must be comfortable working in a virtual environment, including online training and interaction with Managers/Supervisors via chat
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to type 30 words per minute
  • Experience working in a customer service-related field
  • High School degree required; Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Working knowledge of health and welfare and/or defined benefit pension plans a plus
  • Experience working in a call center environment a plus
  • Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish (for bilingual positions) a plus
