As the Director of Global Market Access Strategy -Oncology, you will lead global strategies to ensure patients worldwide have access to our transformative oncology testing solutions. Spanning hereditary risk testing, solid and liquid tumor profiling and monitoring, your work will help shape the future of precision oncology. This includes Market Access strategies for emerging oncology testing applications and indications (e.g. WGS, MRD, and early detection).This is a high-impact, strategic leadership role that requires deep expertise in oncology diagnostics, payer engagement, and global reimbursement landscapes. You will collaborate across regions and functions to shape the value narrative, secure reimbursement, and drive adoption of our technologies in diverse healthcare systems.Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and global market access strategies for Illumina's oncology diagnostic solutions, including comprehensive genomic profiling (CGP), liquid biopsy, and companion diagnostics including unmet needs and evidence gaps. This includes both research kits and in vitro diagnostic Illumina products.
- Partner with regional and country Teams to secure reimbursement and access in key markets, addressing diverse payer requirements and Health Technology Assessment processes. This includes participation in coalitions and industry groups to progress testing access.
- Deeply collaborate with regional Government Affairs, Commercial, Medical Affairs and Marketing Teams to align and execute strategies to gain, protect and expand access to genomic solutions and emerging applications.
- Define and communicate the clinical and economic value of diagnostics through compelling value propositions, evidence generation studies, and payer engagement.
- Support and partner with the Global Health Economics and Outcomes Team on evidence generation strategies, including clinical utility studies, real-world evidence, and health economic and costing models tailored to oncology.
- Monitor global policy trends, HTA requirements, and payer expectations related to oncology to inform strategic planning and product development.
- Develop and update global value dossiers, reimbursement toolkits, and payer engagement materials to support local execution.
- In collaboration with regional Market Access, build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including payers, HTA bodies, advocacy groups, and policy makers.
- Maintain positive working relationships across key channels including customers, distributors, and core laboratories. Support Commercial and Marketing in engagements including meetings, conferences, and symposiums.
- Provide strategic input into product development, launch planning, customer channel considerations and lifecycle management to align with access and commercialization goals. Provide guidance on realization of value of emerging Illumina technologies.
- Lead Illumina product coding and pricing with appropriate regional and coverage segment bodies in collaboration with Product Management and other Illumina functions.
- Ensure compliance with company, international regulatory, legal, and ethical standards.
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (GC, MBA, MPH, PhD, or related) strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in clinical setting, market access, reimbursement, or health economics, with a strong focus on oncology.
- Proven success in developing and executing global market access strategies in diagnostics, biopharma, or the payer setting.
- Understanding of international reimbursement systems, HTA processes, and payer decision-making across major markets.
- Experience with next-generation sequencing (NGS), liquid biopsy, or companion diagnostics in oncology.
- Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
- Ability to manage budgets, vendors and consultants.
- Passion for improving cancer outcomes through access to genomic innovation.
