Summary Performs prospective and/or retrospective drug utilization review and appeals per State and Federal regulations. Participates in the distribution of clinical drug information and educates providers and staff regarding the use of pharmaceutical treatment regimens. Complies with all corporate and facility standard operating procedures, policies, guidelines, and work instructions.

Medical Pharmacy Policy Pharmacist Creates new and updates existing specialty medical necessity criteria through evaluation of available clinical evidence (e.g., FDA labeling, pivotal clinical trials, authoritative compendia, peer-reviewed literature). Present new/updated criteria at clinical meetings, relay updates internally to relevant partners, as well as externally as determined by business need. Provides support for clinical client inquiries. Complies with all standard operating procedures, policies, guidelines, and work instructions. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Collaborates with other clinical personnel in the development and maintenance of evidence-based clinical criteria. Participates in and supports the clinical committees (e.g. DPD, TAC, P&T, VAC) as applicable. Communicates criteria revisions with relevant internal partners. Creates customized Client criteria and coordinates the dissemination of such. May participate in formulary development and management. Collaborates with Account Management as well as the Implementation and Strategy teams regarding new Client implementations as well as expansions to existing business; including clinical projects as determined by business needs. Collaborating with Clinical Operations as needed for program support. Determination of specialty status including the maintenance and dissemination of the Specialty Drug List. Client support, including but not limited to, responding to inquiries, customization of MRxM policies, Client policy review, education, QBR support, clinical meetings, audit assistance, special projects, etc. Supports clinical algorithm development and maintenance as determined by business needs. Adheres to organizational policies and procedures. Ensures compliance with Federal and State laws and standards of practice which govern the profession of pharmacy. Maintains pharmacy records in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations. Maintains clinical skills and knowledge of pharmacotherapy by reviewing the literature, continuing education and any company provided in-services. Completes all mandatory company provided on-line courses. Attends and completes all employee development courses. Performs other duties as required. Supports and assists the Enhanced Oncology Value program pharmacist with the administration of this program, as needed. Adheres to organizational policies and procedures. Ensures compliance with Federal and State laws and standards of practice which govern the profession of pharmacy. Maintains pharmacy records in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations. Maintains clinical skills and knowledge of pharmacotherapy by reviewing the literature, continuing education and any company provided in-services. Completes all mandatory company provided on-line courses. Attends and completes all employee development courses. Performs other duties as required.

Responsibilities

Strong drug product and clinical pharmacy knowledge.License must be current and in good standing. Pay range may vary by 8% depending on applicant location.
