Job Overview

As a Data Entry Keyer at blithequark, you will be an integral part of our functional team, focusing on accuracy and efficiency. Your primary responsibility will be to read work orders, shipping orders, and other customer service documents, and enter data from them into our computer systems with precision. You will work independently with minimal supervision, verifying the information before entry and ensuring consistency in format. To maintain a dynamic work environment, we have incorporated filing and copying tasks into your daily routine, varying your activities and keeping your skills sharp.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read customer and shipping orders submitted through various channels, including in-person, print catalog, and online, and decipher handwriting that can be challenging to read.
  • Key data into specific Microsoft Excel fields, leveraging the work already done for online orders, which comprise the majority of our orders.
  • Read and key in data from other source documents, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Verify that the data is accurate before entry, and ensure that it is consistent throughout the system, updating relevant information as necessary.
  • Report any data errors or anomalies to your supervisor, contributing to the smooth operation of our company.
  • Maintain accurate and updated logs of ongoing work, demonstrating your organizational skills.
  • Perform filing, copying, and other administrative duties for approximately three hours per day, with the remaining five hours dedicated to data entry keying.

Qualifications and Skills

Required Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent reading comprehension and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills and patience for repetitive work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Reading knowledge of English, with approximately 5 to 10 percent of our orders also in Spanish.
  • One to two years of experience with data entry and/or filing, demonstrating your ability to work accurately and efficiently.
  • Social perceptiveness and service orientation, enabling you to provide exceptional support to our team and customers.
