Job Description

The Jr. Data Scientist role is an exciting opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in data science and research while working on real-world projects that impact Amazon customers. As a Jr. Data Scientist, you'll be matched 1:1 with an Amazon Jr. Data Science Coach, who will provide guidance and support in all aspects of your job, including skill development, career advising, project collaboration, and more. Upon successful completion of the Jr. Data Scientist Program, you'll have the opportunity to transition to a regular full-time role at Amazon's corporate offices in San Diego, CA.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop pipelines for reports, analyze large-scale data, and utilize data in AI, advanced analytics, statistics, reporting, and scientific tooling/dialects like SQL, Excel, and others to break down and translate the data into meaningful insights; understand the results and be able to explain what everything means to key stakeholders like researchers, product managers, and experts.
• Analyze large amounts of data, identify and solve real-world problems, and build metrics and business cases around key performance of this program.
• Utilize a customer-centric approach in determining insights and identifying moves we can make to improve the customer experience and conversion for the program.

Essential Capabilities

• Currently enrolled in a certified school or college, pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree program.
• Studying Data Science, Computer Science, or a related STEM discipline.
• Ability to work on a part-time basis during the school year and full-time during the summer.
• Living within commutable distance to San Diego, CA.

Preferred Capabilities

• Past technical internship(s).
• Successfully eloquent technical challenges and solutions.
• Skilled at handling ambiguous or uncertain issues as well as the ability to conceptually think.
