Job Summary

As a Teacher Assistant, you will work closely with our teachers to support the instructional program and provide individualized support to students. You will assist with lesson planning, implementation, and evaluation, as well as supervise students during instructional activities. Your role will also involve communicating with parents, teachers, and other staff members to ensure a collaborative and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

* Assist teachers in planning, implementing, and evaluating instructional lessons and programs

  • Work directly with students individually or in small groups to reinforce subjects initially introduced by the teacher
  • Organize materials and set up learning stations, laboratories, and activity centers
  • Supervise students during instructional activities and assist students having difficulty
  • Lead and/or facilitate group discussions, sharing time, individual recitation, or individual work
  • Prepare instructional materials, such as posters, charts, transparencies, game boards, and other related materials
  • Assist with bulletin boards, exhibits, and displays
  • Observe and gather assessment data on students and discuss observations/progress with instructional staff
  • Provide assistance to the instructional staff in the supervision of students in the classroom
  • May supervise lunch duties, playground, and bus duties as directed
  • Assist in the administration of tests/assessment instruments
  • Record data to record books/master charts/assessment forms
  • Perform a variety of clerical tasks, including correcting work papers/tests, keeping daily attendance, maintaining student folders/records, and other related tasks as assigned
  • Work with teachers/students on special projects/lessons/assignments
  • Assist in storing, inventorying, and requisitioning of instructional materials, supplies, and equipment as directed
  • Aids in organization/housekeeping tasks for laboratory, learning stations, work areas, or other instructional settings
  • Attend and actively participate in staff development activities
  • Refer or accompany disruptive students to the principal
  • Accompany students on field trips
  • Perform other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower

Essential Qualifications

* High School Diploma or Equivalency Certificate required

  • Previous training and/or experience in an educational/instructional environment preferred
  • Willingness to learn and implement instructional methods, strategies, and techniques to assist teachers in the education of students
  • Ability to exercise considerable patience, courtesy, tact, and good judgment in working with students, teachers, administrators, fellow employees, and parents
  • Ability to employ a variety of teaching styles to respond to the needs of diverse learners
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations
  • Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications (e.g. Video/Web Conferencing, Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, and/or PowerPoint preferred)
  • Employee must retain active licenses, certifications, and enrollment as a condition of employment

Preferred Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field

  • Experience working with young children in an educational setting
  • Knowledge of child development principles and practices
  • Familiarity with curriculum design and implementation
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
