Key Responsibilities
As an Online Adjunct Instructor, you'll be responsible for:
- Teaching undergraduate courses in philosophy and applied ethics, including environmental ethics, ethics of disaster, and bioethics
- Developing and delivering engaging online courses that meet the needs of diverse learners
- Assessing student learning and providing feedback to help students achieve their academic goals
- Collaborating with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum that aligns with our institution's mission and values
- Participating in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in online teaching and learning
- Engaging with students, colleagues, and other stakeholders to promote a culture of inclusivity, respect, and open communication
Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you'll need to meet the following essential qualifications:
- Master's degree in philosophy with coursework in applied ethics or a Master's degree in applied ethics, with a PhD preferred
- Academic background in the areas of environmental ethics, ethics of disaster, and/or bioethics
- Higher education teaching experience and interest in developing courses is highly desired
- Authorization to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- Experience teaching online courses or developing online curriculum
- Familiarity with learning management systems and online teaching tools
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse students, colleagues, and stakeholders
- Experience with curriculum development and assessment
