Job Overview

We're seeking a highly skilled and experienced logistics professional to join our team as a Remote Logistics Professional, specializing in ocean freight forwarding and carrier development. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for executing strategies that support the growth of ocean volumes, enhancing the development of the ocean product, and working closely with our Managing Director of Ocean to drive business results.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute strategies to support the growth of ocean volumes and enhance the development of the ocean product
• Work closely with the Managing Director of Ocean to support carrier development, pricing, and analyzing of carrier service, routings, and performance
• Implement and communicate strategies to increase volumes, maximize competitiveness, and enhance service quality
• Assist in implementing pricing programs, reviewing volume targets, and developing an ocean strategy to achieve sales expectations and yield enhancement
• Communicate internally and externally to outline strategy, market conditions, and direction, working closely with the global trade lane team, sales, and operations
• Direct and indirect customer contact will be required, ensuring exceptional customer service and support
• Conduct regular service reviews to ensure agreed-upon KPIs are being met or exceeded
• Assist in gathering, analyzing, and reporting information regarding performance and competitive activity, submitting reports as required
• Manage annual budget, controlling, monitoring, and reporting results on a regular basis to achieve budget targets
• Work closely with marketing to develop external and internal communications specific to the ocean product

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a strong educational foundation, combined with extensive experience in the international freight forwarding industry. Specifically, we require:

• A Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with at least 8 years of experience in the international freight forwarding industry, including direct ocean experience
• Proven experience in working with ocean contracts, negotiating ocean rates, quoting ocean rates, and analyzing ocean rates and routing
• Prior ocean carrier experience is highly desirable
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders
• Business-oriented with remarkable business acumen, strong interpersonal and leadership skills
