Job Summary
As an Experienced High School English or History Teacher, you will be responsible for instructing students in the appropriate district curriculum, creating a positive and effective learning environment, and providing strong academic, social, physical, and emotional growth for all students. You will be an integral part of our team, working collaboratively with colleagues to develop and implement engaging lesson plans, assess student progress, and provide support to students who need it.
Key Responsibilities
* Instruct students in the appropriate district curriculum, using a variety of teaching methods and technologies to engage and motivate learners
- Create a positive and effective learning environment that promotes academic achievement, social growth, and emotional well-being
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with special needs and English language learners
- Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet the needs of individual students
- Provide support to students who need it, including tutoring, mentoring, and counseling
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement school-wide initiatives and programs
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in teaching and learning
Essential Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in English, History, or a related field
- Valid teaching certification or eligibility for certification in the state of Alaska
- Meet all state and federal requirements to be qualified in the required content area
- Proven track record of creating engaging lesson plans and fostering a positive learning environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing circumstances
Preferred Qualifications
* Master's degree in English, History, or a related field
- Experience teaching in a remote or online learning environment
- Familiarity with curriculum design and implementation
- Experience working with diverse student populations, including students with special needs and English language learners
- Strong technology skills, including proficiency in learning management systems and educational software
