About the Role of an Online Reading Tutor

As an online reading tutor with BookNook, you will have the opportunity to make a direct and positive impact on the lives of K-8 students. You will work in live, synchronous online tutoring sessions using our innovative platform and video conferencing software. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct virtual tutoring sessions using the BookNook platform, with no lesson planning required
• Manage student behavior and engagement throughout sessions, creating a safe and respectful learning environment
• Maintain positive relationships with students, providing feedback and support to help them achieve their goals
• Document observations for each session in the session notes, helping to track student progress and identify areas for improvement
• Commit to a full program with the same group of students throughout, typically 8-16 weeks

Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful as an online reading tutor with BookNook, you will need to meet the following requirements:

• Be at least 18 years old and based in the United States with a U.S. mailing address
• Have knowledge of and experience in reading best practices aligned to the science of reading
• Ability to build meaningful connections with students, creating a motivating and encouraging environment
• Creativity and flexibility to meet students where they are, adapting to their individual needs and learning styles
• Experience teaching or tutoring K-8 students, which may include having a current or previous teaching license, serving as a substitute teacher or teaching assistant, or tutoring for another company
• Classroom experience and online teaching or tutoring experience are preferred, but not required
• Access to a computer, webcam, and reliable, high-speed internet connection with a speed of at least 10mbps

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits

Our Hiring Process
