We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Occupational Therapist I to join our Medical Therapy Program (MTP) team in the Department of Health Services (DHS) at the County of Sonoma. About the Medical Therapy Program

The Medical Therapy Program is a comprehensive outpatient rehabilitation program that provides services to children with physical impairments and chronic health conditions. Our team is dedicated to helping children achieve their full potential, and we are seeking an Occupational Therapist who shares our commitment to excellence and compassion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide skilled and professional occupational therapy services to children from birth to age 21 with physical impairments, including evaluation, treatment planning, and implementation of occupational therapy programs.
  • Conduct thorough evaluations of children's physical function, including fine motor, visual perceptual motor, functional mobility, and upper extremity functional training.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including goals and objectives, to address functional limitations and promote independence.
  • Provide consultation services to caregivers and community partners to promote increased independence and physical and emotional well-being.
  • Evaluate the home setting and community settings for safety and access, including training clients and caregivers in the use of equipment and/or home therapy programs.
  • Establish and monitor therapeutic exercise programs, including client and caregiver instruction.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records and documentation per State guidelines.
  • Engage in ongoing education and training to remain current on trends and new developments in the field of occupational therapy.

Requirements and Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy Program approved by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.
  • Possession of a valid California license as an Occupational Therapist issued by the California Board of Occupational Therapy or possession of a Limited Permit to practice as an Occupational Therapist issued by the California Board of Occupational Therapy.
  • Any combination of training and experience that would provide an opportunity to acquire the knowledge and abilities required for the position.
  • Experience in providing therapy to physically handicapped children or experience in a pediatric program is desirable.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in an outpatient or acute care setting with children who have complex physical disabilities and chronic health conditions.
  • Strong knowledge of principles and practices of neurodevelopmental therapies and the World Health Organization's framework for measuring health and disability via the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and experience working with electronic health records and associated workflows.
  • A cooperative approach when working with different personalities and the ability to shift focus when unexpected issues arise.
  • Patience, compassion, and resiliency when faced with difficult situations.

What We Offer

As a valued member of our team, you will enjoy a comprehensive compensation package, including:

  • Competitive salary range: $87,199.87 - $105,983.95 per year.
  • Excellent benefits, including eligibility for a salary increase after 1,040 hours (6 months when working full-time) for good work performance.
  • Competitive vacation and sick leave accruals, 12 paid holidays, and an additional 8 floating holiday hours per year.
  • County paid 100% premium contribution for the majority of employee-only and employee + family health plan options.
  • Annual Staff Development/Wellness Benefit allowance of up to $425 and ongoing education/training opportunities.
  • County contribution to a Health Reimbursement Arrangement to help fund post-retirement employee health insurance/benefits.
  • Retirement fully integrated with Social Security.
