As a Cloud Engineer, you'll be responsible for developing technical solutions to improve the American Express Hybrid Cloud platform, focusing on automation for highly scalable cloud services delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the API engineering team, UI engineering team, quality engineering, and product management to build scalable, high-performance API and integration solutions.
• Research and apply emerging technologies and libraries that enable lean product development.
• Design and implement API/Middleware solutions that integrate with NoSQL databases, platforms, and partner systems.
• Secure APIs with security integrations such as Okta, SSO, mTLS, HashiCorp Vault, etc.
• Implement best programming practices that produce effective code, including design patterns, code style consistency, integration, unit testing, and code review.
• Demonstrate a willingness to learn new technologies and a passion for rapid software development.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, you'll need:

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience with cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, or Private Cloud.
• 2+ years of experience in developing REST APIs using languages like GoLang or Java.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
• A deep understanding of REST principles as both a provider and consumer.
• Strong experience with NoSQL databases (CouchBase and ETCD are a plus).
• Proficiency in security integrations such as Okta, mTLS, SSO, HashiCorp Vault, etc.
• Experience with Container Orchestration technologies like Kubernetes, Openshift, etc.
• A solid grasp of CI/CD cycles and tools like Git, Docker, Jenkins, Spinnaker, XL Delivery, etc.
• A proven track record of developing middleware solutions with a focus on code quality, unit testing, integration testing, and API documentation.
• Familiarity with agile application development methodologies and QE processes.
