Associate Attorney - Litigation
Job Overview
A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney - Litigation to join its legal team in Plano, Texas. This role involves managing a diverse litigation portfolio, including contested matters and creditor's rights issues, while providing strategic legal guidance to financial institution clients.
Duties
- Manage 50-75 active litigation cases from initiation through resolution.
- Act as lead counsel in all phases of litigation, including pre-litigation, pleadings, discovery, and trial.
- Represent clients in contested matters and firm-related litigation.
- Provide legal strategy and timely status updates to clients.
- Negotiate settlements and manage risk exposure.
- Supervise procedural implementations and guide operational staff.
- Ensure compliance with state, federal, and client-specific requirements.
- Monitor legal changes and recommend procedural updates.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience as lead counsel in contested litigation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills for managing multiple cases.
- Proficiency in legal research tools such as Westlaw or LexisNexis.
- Experience with default litigation and banking law in Texas preferred.
Education
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
Certifications
- Active license to practice law in the State of Texas.
- Admission to practice before all four federal district courts in Texas.
