Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Senior Medical Assistant to join our team at the AHN Cancer Center in Pittsburgh, PA. As a Senior Medical Assistant, you will work closely with our healthcare providers to coordinate patient care, perform administrative tasks, and maintain accurate medical records. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and room patients for examinations and treatments, following established protocols and workflows
  • Accurately obtain and document patient vital signs, medical history, and medication information
  • Assist healthcare providers with examinations, procedures, and administrative tasks
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including electronic health records (EHRs)
  • Perform in-house testing, lab controls, and equipment checks, following established protocols and policies
  • Provide patient education and support, as needed, and ensure that patients are informed about their care and treatment options
  • Collaborate with the care team to coordinate patient care, including pre-visit planning, population health management, and follow-up care
  • Act as a peer mentor and provide training and support to new medical assistants and students
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment, including inventory management and supply stocking

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year of experience as a Medical Assistant or equivalent training and experience
  • Current certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or higher preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHRs) and practice management software

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a cancer center or oncology setting
  • Knowledge of Meaningful Use standards and population health management principles
  • Experience with practice management software and electronic health record applications
  • Current valid state driver's license
  • Ability to travel between physician office locations, as needed
