Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Elementary Teacher with a specialization in Talented and Gifted Education to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for working closely with existing school resources and community resources to address the needs of our extended learning and high-performing students. Key Responsibilities
- Supporting and facilitating the identification of gifted students and developing student learning plans
- Collaborating with regular classroom teachers to modify and/or differentiate curricula to meet the needs of gifted students
- Facilitating and coordinating enrichment activities, such as the spelling bee and geography bee
- Building relationships with students, staff, and parents to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment
- Providing support to academically gifted students and their families
- Meeting regularly with teachers to review targeted academic needs and goals
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education
- Valid Alaska teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement
- Six semester education credits in extended learning (gifted/talented)
Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- Excellent organizational skills and follow-through
- Experience working in an elementary school setting
- Previous teaching experience with gifted and talented students
