Job Summary and Key Responsibilities

The Department of Foreign Languages at Weber State University is seeking a World Language Assistant to provide tutoring and support to students in our tutoring space located in Elizabeth Hall, room 244. As a World Language Assistant, you will be responsible for:

• Tutoring and assisting students with coursework and conversation in the target language
• Serving as a general resource for language students, providing guidance and support as needed
• Conducting tutoring sessions in person or virtually, as required
• Collaborating with faculty members to identify areas where students need additional support
• Developing and maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment

Essential Qualifications and Requirements

To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you must meet the following essential qualifications:

• Be enrolled in Weber State University during the semester in which you are hired
• Maintain an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher and a grade of B+ or higher in all upper-division language classes
• Demonstrate Advanced Low level proficiency on the ACTFL scale in the target language, as judged by department faculty
• Enroll in EDUC 2920 B and complete the course during the first semester of hiring
• Be available to work 3-6 hours per week between 8am and 4pm, Monday through Friday

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are highly preferred:

• Pursuing a major or minor in the language of study
• Having experience teaching or tutoring foreign languages
