Key Responsibilities and Expectations

In this position, you will be responsible for:

• Investigating moderately complex and occasionally complex claims, including those involving attorneys and litigation
• Taking recorded statements, resolving loss of use claims, making payments to appropriate parties, and negotiating and settling or referring bodily injury issues that cannot be resolved
• Handling claims involved in litigation, arbitration, or mediation, coordinating with legal counsel, and participating in depositions, hearings, trials, or arbitrations
• Researching and responding to complex customer communications, concerns, conflicts, or issues
• Summarizing documents and entering notes into the claim system
• Determining and explaining minimum coverage limits in complex claims involving single or multiple claimants
• Setting initial reserves, updating reserves, documenting rationale, and claim summary notes
• Determining claim value and negotiating and settling claims in accordance with business unit best practices

Essential Qualifications and Skills

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

• A bachelor's degree (preferred) and/or 5 or more years of experience in handling bodily injury claims
• Knowledge and experience handling Florida claims (preferred)
• A strong understanding of insurance policies, coverages, and regulations
• Excellent negotiation and arbitration skills
• Ability to investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle complex claims
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

While not required, the following qualifications and skills are preferred:

• Prior experience in handling represented or litigation claims
• Florida 6-20 Resident All-Lines Adjuster License or 7-20 Non-Resident All-Lines Adjuster license
• Bilingual or prior military experience
• Experience with claim systems and software
