Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Data Scientist at Disney, you will be responsible for:

  • Data Quality: Transforming raw data into actionable insights through automated pipelines, ensuring data accuracy, and raising discrepancies.
  • Statistical Modeling: Designing and developing predictive models using statistical and machine learning techniques to forecast client engagement across Disney platforms.
  • Business Acumen: Creating visualizations and interfaces to communicate results to business partners, analyzing data to identify patterns, and uncovering opportunities.
  • Leadership/Organization: Collaborating with business partners to identify opportunities, working with data teams to improve capabilities, and serving as a resource for colleagues.
  • Process Improvement: Driving innovation by exploring new statistical methods, conceptualizing ways to enhance the forecasting and reporting infrastructure, and streamlining processes.
  • Agile Methodologies: Participating in stand-ups, sprint planning, writing business requirements reports, and reviews, while contributing to an "Open Source" learning environment.

Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in data science or a related field
  • High proficiency in SQL and Python (e.g., pandas, numpy, scikit-learn) for data analysis
  • Experience with ETL, data pipeline management, and cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, PySpark, Snowflake, Wind current, Databricks)
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau)
  • Experience designing and executing predictive models (generalized linear models, time series, decision trees, etc.)
  • Experience working with Git
  • A demonstrated sense of ownership and effective project ownership
  • Strong relational skills, with the ability to communicate technical and non-technical concepts to various audiences
  • A curiosity-driven mindset, with a passion for digging deeper to find the bigger picture
  • Client/client-situated, with strong relational abilities and a focus on building trust and advancing business objectives
  • Humility, with a willingness to contribute to the team and help others
  • Comfort with complex data and adaptability in dynamic environments

Preferred Qualifications

Additional skills that will give you a competitive edge:

  • Experience using web frameworks (Django) and JavaScript libraries (ReactJS, JQuery) to build professional frontend and backend web applications focused on client experience
  • Experience executing Docker containers
