About the Role

We're seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Engineer to join our team as a Jobs.Netflix.Com Tagger. As a Data Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the complex data systems that power our business. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving our decision-making processes, from content creation and acquisition to personalized recommendations and user experience enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop large-scale data pipelines to process and analyze vast amounts of data from various sources, including development, finance, product, content, and studio domains.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders, engineers, and data scientists, to identify data needs and develop solutions that drive business outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain data models, architectures, and governance policies that ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Work with big data technologies like Spark, Flink, and Hadoop to build scalable and efficient data processing systems.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize data pipelines and systems to ensure high performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and data dictionaries to facilitate data understanding and reuse.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to the development of best practices and standards for data engineering.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends in data engineering, and apply this knowledge to drive innovation and improvement.

Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in at least one major programming language, such as Java, Scala, or Python.
  • Experience with SQL and data modeling.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, data processing, and data storage technologies.
  • Experience with big data technologies like Spark, Flink, or Hadoop.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to debug complex issues.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following skills and experiences will give you a competitive edge:

  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms, such as AWS or GCP.
  • Knowledge of data governance, data quality, and data security best practices.
  • Familiarity with machine learning and deep learning concepts.
  • Experience with data visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies, such as Agile or Scrum.
