The Organization

New Energy Nexus (www.newenergynexus.com) is a fast-growing international organization that supports entrepreneurs and startups building breakthrough clean energy solutions to solve climate change. New Energy Nexus Ventures, our investment management arm based in Singapore, specializes in clean energy and climate tech investments. Established in 2020 with the Indonesia 1 Fund, we invest in early-stage clean energy startups across Southeast Asia to support our global vision of achieving 100% clean energy for 100% of the population.

The Vacancy

We are seeking an Investment Associate based out of Vietnam, Indonesia, or the Philippines to join our team remotely and drive our current and prospective investment activities in the region. The ideal candidate will have a familiarity with the startup ecosystem and early-stage funding mechanisms, combined with passion for renewable energy and sustainable development. The role reports to the Investment Manager with overall supervision from the Head of Investments.

Key Responsibilities

Investment Portfolio Management Activities (60%)

• Collect, analyze, and manage impact data from portfolio companies to measure progress against sustainability metrics
• Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned portfolio companies
• Provide strategic guidance and support to portfolio companies to accelerate their growth
• Source, screen, and evaluate potential investment opportunities across the climate tech ecosystem in Southeast Asia

Investor Relations (20%)

• Support communication and engagements with current and prospective limited partners
• Support the development of fundraising materials and pitch decks for future funds
• Assist in preparing quarterly reports and updates for limited partners
• Help maintain strong relationships with the investor community

Fund Operations (20%)

• Contribute to the fund's overall investment strategy and thesis development
• Collaborate with team members to refine investment processes and workflows
• Stay current on market trends, competitive landscapes, and regulatory developments

Requirements

Professional Attributes

• 1-3 years of relevant experience, with Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, Finance or Accounting
• Strong understanding of the market dynamics and startup ecosystem in either Vietnam, Indonesia, or the Philippines
• Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with entrepreneurs, investors, and ecosystem partners
• Prior experience in climate tech, renewable energy, circular economy, or related sectors
• Experience working with impact measurement frameworks
• Network within either of Vietnam, Indonesia or the Philippines’ startup and investment community

Personal Attributes

• Have excellent analytical skills and attention to details
• Have work ethics to collaborate with a desire to grow and learn and possess a can-do attitude as well as attention to details
• Outstanding presentation, interpersonal and communication skills in both local language (native) and English (fluent)
• High degree of professional ethics and integrity, organizational, prioritization and time-management skills
• Independent and adept in remote teamwork setting involving collaboration in multi-cultural environment

Benefits

This is a full-time remote position. Relocation assistance is not available for this role and compensation is competitive for the market the candidate is based in. Applicable benefits such as medical, dental, vision, paid time off, paid holidays and insurance will depend on the location of the selected candidate.
