Remote | Proxmox Architect | Full-time

We are actively recruiting a Proxmox Architect for our client in Knoxville, TN. This is a fully remote contract opportunity. In this role you will be responsible for designing and implementing enterprise virtualization solutions. These solutions must enable secure, scalable, and resilient IT services. The role requires defining standards, driving the adoption of best practices, and providing architectural leadership across virtualization, storage, networking, and automation domains. The ideal candidate should combine deep technical expertise with the ability to effectively partner across infrastructure, application, and security teams.

Responsibilities

• Architect and design enterprise-grade Proxmox Virtual Environment (PVE) solutions.
• Establish standards for high availability, scalability, and disaster recovery.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure seamless integration.
• Drive automation and orchestration for deployment, lifecycle, and monitoring.
• Produce architectural documentation and roadmaps for leadership.
• Mentor team members and provide technical direction on virtualization strategy.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of IT infrastructure experience with 3+ years in virtualization architecture.
• Hands-on expertise with Proxmox VE in production environments.
• Deep knowledge of Linux, storage, networking, and clustering technologies.
• Experience with automation frameworks (Ansible, Terraform, scripting) is a plus.
• Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Preferred Skills

• Hybrid/multi-cloud integration experience.
• Familiarity with containerization and Kubernetes.
• Open-source contributions or Proxmox community engagement.
