Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Manager - Underwriting to join our PBM Underwriting group. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting the organization's ability to achieve its financial and strategic goals through effective pricing strategy, negotiation, and analysis. You will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and managing risk to maximize revenue, membership, and earnings. This is a highly strategic role that requires a strong understanding of market dynamics, business intelligence, and analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform underwriting analysis and risk assessment for new and/or renewal of large group contracts within our Employer business segment.
• Develop and implement effective pricing strategies to maximize revenue and earnings.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to deliver great results and drive business growth.
• Manage and mitigate risk to ensure the continued growth and profitability of the leading PBM.
• Stay up-to-date with market trends and competitor activity to inform pricing and underwriting decisions.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, vendors, and internal teams.
• Provide expert guidance and support to junior team members to ensure the success of the team.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:

• 5 or more years of relevant work experience in underwriting, pricing, or a related field.
• Demonstrated analytical experience and ability, with a strong understanding of market dynamics and business intelligence.
• Skilled at working with internal and external partners to deliver great results.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects.

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to the essential qualifications, we are looking for candidates with the following preferred qualifications:

• Experience managing a P&L, or other financial expertise or completing other financial analyses.
• Experience negotiating pricing or contracts with external vendors or clients.
• Experience with data analytics, including SQL or other similar coding languages, familiarity with data schemas, etc.
• MBA or other relevant graduate degree.
