Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Part-Time Teaching Assistant to support Dr. Garud in the ENTR 820 course at the Smeal College of Business. As a Part-Time Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in the delivery of high-quality education to our students, assisting with course development, teaching, and assessment. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with faculty members, contribute to the development of innovative teaching methods, and engage with students to provide support and guidance.

Key Responsibilities

As a Part-Time Teaching Assistant, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the lead instructor with feedback and grading, ensuring that students receive timely and constructive feedback on their assignments and assessments.
  • Facilitating discussion boards and live sessions, creating a dynamic and engaging learning environment for students.
  • Moderating online discussions and forums, ensuring that students are actively engaged and participating in the learning process.
  • Contributing to the development of innovative teaching methods and materials, staying up-to-date with best practices in teaching and learning.
  • Providing technical support to students, helping them to overcome any technical issues or difficulties they may encounter.
  • Assisting students with course content issues, providing guidance and support to ensure that students are able to access and engage with course materials.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., business, education, or a related discipline).
  • A strong academic record, with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
  • A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a strong understanding of the importance of creating an inclusive learning environment.

Preferred Qualifications

While the above essential qualifications are required, we also welcome applications from candidates who possess the following preferred qualifications:

  • A master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., business, education, or a related discipline).
  • Teaching or tutoring experience, particularly in a higher education setting.
  • Experience with online learning platforms and tools, such as Canvas or Blackboard.
  • Familiarity with educational technology, including learning management systems and online assessment tools.
  • A strong understanding of business principles and practices, with a particular focus on entrepreneurship and innovation.
