Job Summary

The Japanese Agricultural Training Program (JATP) Agriculture Trainer position is a contracted 40-day position from June 26th to August 18th, 2023, with an estimated daily rate of $175 per day. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching general agriculture vocabulary, American agriculture basics, and providing agriculture demonstrations and training to Japanese Agriculture Trainees. The JATP Instructional Training Program is an intensive 9-week program that includes English, Spanish, and agricultural instruction, as well as on-the-farm training and cultural activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach general agriculture vocabulary and American agriculture basics as it relates to fruit, vegetables, livestock, horticulture, and other assigned topics
• Follow curriculum and lesson plan schedule
• Provide agriculture demonstrations and training
• Organize and schedule agriculture field trips
• Communicate with trainees and JATP Director
• Attend extra-curricular activities
• Drive 11-passenger van to transport trainees when needed
• Other duties as requested by the JATP Director

Requirements and Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• 5 years of experience in the agriculture industry
• Effective leadership and organizational skills
• Effective written, electronic, and verbal communication skills
• Valid driver's license and auto insurance

Desirable Qualifications:

• Teaching experience
• Previous teaching or training experience
• Knowledge and understanding of Japanese culture
• Experience teaching English as a second language

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits

The estimated daily rate for this position is $175 per day, with a total of 40 contracted days. In addition to the daily rate, you will receive:

• A farm equipment and machine operation training stipend
• A field trip stipend

Please note that this position is not eligible for benefits and is exempt from overtime.
