Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and passionate SSAT/SHSAT Tutor to join our team in Flushing, NY. As a Test Prep Tutor, you will play a vital role in providing individual and/or small-group tutoring to boys aged 10-14, preparing them for core high school admissions exams, including the SSAT, SHSAT, and TACHS. You will be strongly supported by our Director of High School Access and will be responsible for planning your own lessons and finding materials. Key Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and implement appropriate programs and lesson plans to enhance skill development of participants and prepare them for specialized high school admissions tests
• Work regularly with the Director of High School Access and other relevant staff to assess the needs of individual students and adapt lessons to meet those needs
• Observe and track member progress and attendance
• Reinforce positive student behavior and clubhouse rules; maintain a positive relationship with all members, families, and staff
• Write, implement, and adapt a curriculum and training methods that meet participants' interests
• Attend required department meetings and professional development trainings
• Other duties as assigned

Essential Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor's Degree with a focus in a relevant field (e.g., Education, English, or a related field)
• At least 2 years of experience as a Writing, Reading, and/or English Tutor or classroom teacher
• Experience working with students from 6-18 years old
• Knowledge of NYC school standards preferred
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to adapt to a changing environment and to address the varying needs of the boys

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Education or a related field
• Specialized training or certification in test preparation (e.g., SSAT, SHSAT, or TACHS)
• Experience working with diverse student populations and/or students with special needs
• Familiarity with curriculum design and implementation
• Strong technological skills, including experience with online learning platforms and educational software
