Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you must possess the following essential qualifications:

• New York State teacher certification in Special Education (grades 1-6)
• Successful prior teaching or student teaching experience in special education
• Knowledge of New York State Learning Standards and Committee on Special Education (CSE) process
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and students
• Technological proficiency, with the ability to utilize digital tools and resources to support instruction and communication

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following preferred qualifications are highly desirable:

• Experience with IEP goal writing, implementation, and progress monitoring
• Knowledge of elementary curriculum and instruction, with the ability to develop and implement engaging and effective lesson plans
• Experience with providing special education students with learning activities and experiences designed to promote intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth
• Strong understanding of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles and strategies
• Experience with positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS)
