Key Responsibilities

  • Concept Development: Lead "clean sheet" concept design rides that meet creative vision and partner requirements, distilling and organizing technical requirements from high-level insight/story descriptions and artwork.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with key stakeholders to define system requirements and interface specifics, and direct the daily activities of an engineering and design team through all phases of work.
  • Project Management: Be responsible for the development of project schedules, testing, risk, and report documentation, as well as vendor/contractor management and oversight.
  • Digital Modeling and Drawing: Lead the development and delivery of digital models and drawings, and oversee the verification of concept models and prototype efforts.
  • Installation and Testing: Lead/manage the installation of ride mechanical equipment, field support, and testing, and collaborate with the project procurement team to assess, bid, and award outside vendor contracts.

Essential Qualifications

  • Mechanical Engineering Experience: Proven mechanical engineering experience, with advanced engineering knowledge in areas such as statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, kinematics, and stress/strain.
  • Design Expertise: Advanced design expertise in areas such as machine design, weldments, power train, and materials.
  • Design Tools: Proficiency with design tools such as SolidWorks, Navisworks, AutoCAD, SketchUp, ANSYS, FEA, and Matlab.
  • Design Sensibilities: Excellent design sensibilities and creative problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Disney or Entertainment Experience: Previous Disney or entertainment industry experience, with advanced knowledge of the business.
  • Life Safety Design: Experience with life safety design and requirements.
  • Prototyping and Product Development: Experience with prototyping, development, or innovative products.
  • Technical Certifications: Technical certifications such as EIT, FE, or PE.
