About the Team

The User Clients team is at the heart of Airbnb's mobile engineering efforts, working closely with cross-functional partners in design, product, data science, and marketing to develop features that are used by millions. As a senior engineer on this team, you'll collaborate with Android and web engineers to develop foundational, cross-platform solutions that elevate the Airbnb experience across all devices. Your expertise will help shape the direction of the app, ensuring it's not only visually stunning but also performant, scalable, and secure.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Product Managers, Experience Designers, and fellow Engineers to design and deliver high-quality iOS products that meet Airbnb's high standards
• Identify areas for improvement and drive best practices in mobile development, ensuring the app remains competitive and aligned with industry trends
• Develop efficient, reusable mobile components and architect reliable, performant, and scalable mobile solutions that can handle a high volume of users
• Work closely with Android and Web engineers to develop cross-platform solutions that enhance the overall Airbnb experience
• Participate in code reviews and architecture discussions, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the team

Your Expertise

To succeed in this role, you'll need a strong background in iOS development, with a focus on delivering high-quality, scalable, and secure applications. Your expertise will be built on:

• 2+ years of experience developing iOS applications at scale, preferably using Swift and SwiftUI, with a deep understanding of iOS ecosystems and development best practices
• Extensive experience working with Swift, iOS applications, GraphQL, and REST APIs, with a strong grasp of client networking, performance optimization, caching, and client storage solutions
• Excellent engineering and coding skills, with a solid understanding of data structures, asynchronous programming, and accessibility principles
• A passion for collaborating via code reviews and architecture discussions, with a motivation to improve the productivity of your teammates and drive technical innovation
• Strong product sense and a passion for iOS UI and UX product development, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering exceptional user experiences
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with Product Management, Design, and other iOS, Android, and Web Engineers to drive product vision and technical direction
• A commitment to continuous learning and innovation in the mobile industry, staying up-to-date with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices

Bonus Skills

While not required, experience with animation libraries and knowledge of animation within SwiftUI will be considered a plus, as Airbnb continues to push the boundaries of mobile UI and UX.
