The Information Designing group at DoorDash is responsible for building data set solutions for various use cases, including reporting, product analysis, marketing optimization, and financial reporting. As a Staff Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in scaling DoorDash's data framework, automation, and tools to meet the company's growing business needs.

Job Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Staff Data Engineer to join our team. As a Staff Data Engineer, you will be responsible for working with colleagues and stakeholders to understand data requirements, designing, developing, and implementing large-scale, high-volume, high-performance data models and pipelines for Data Lake and Data Warehouse. You will also build reusable frameworks that improve the reliability and flexibility of our ETLs, manage a portfolio of data products that deliver high-quality, reliable data, and mentor and coach colleagues to improve their designs and implementations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work with colleagues and stakeholders to understand data requirements and design, develop, and implement large-scale, high-volume, high-performance data models and pipelines for Data Lake and Data Warehouse
• Build reusable frameworks that improve the reliability and flexibility of our ETLs
• Manage a portfolio of data products that deliver high-quality, reliable data
• Mentor and coach colleagues to improve their designs and implementations
• Collaborate with engineering, product teams, and external partners to gather required data
• Design, develop, and implement data pipelines and architectures that meet the company's growing business needs

Essential Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

• 3+ years of professional experience in data engineering, business intelligence, or a similar role
• 3+ years of experience working with programming languages like Python/Java
• 3+ years of experience with ETL tools and workflow management tools like Airflow, Flink, Oozie, and Azkaban using AWS/GCP
• Expertise in database fundamentals, SQL, and distributed computing
• 3+ years of experience with distributed data/comparable ecosystem (Spark, Hive, Druid, Voila) and streaming technologies like Kafka/Flink
• Experience working with Snowflake, Redshift, PostgreSQL, and other DBMS platforms
• Knowledge of reporting tools like Tableau, Superset, and Looker
• Excellent communication skills and experience working with technical and non-technical teams
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, self-starter, and self-organizing
• Capacity to think strategically, analyze, and interpret market and consumer data

• Experience working with cloud-based data platforms like AWS or GCP
• Knowledge of data governance and data quality best practices
