As a 988 Chat/Text Crisis Specialist, you'll be part of a dynamic team providing critical support to individuals in crisis through the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (NSPL), also known as 988. About Centerstone and the Role

Centerstone is a trauma-informed organization that prioritizes understanding, recognizing, and responding to the needs of those affected by trauma. As a 988 Chat/Text Crisis Specialist, you'll be working on a 24/7/365 mental health crisis/suicide prevention focused team, providing brief clinical screenings, risk assessments, and service linkage for individuals experiencing emotional distress. While interactions begin online, you may also support telephonic intervention to ensure individual safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide telephonic or chat clinical screenings and risk assessments to individuals in crisis.
• Respond to crisis contacts via the chat/text platform, assessing for suicide, safety, and identifying community resources to meet individual needs.
• Conduct follow-up calls for individuals deemed moderate to high risk for suicide.
• Meet ethical and clinical standards in compliance with all accreditation.
• Participate in ongoing supervision, training, and team meetings.
• Assist with administrative tasks as needed.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

• A Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Science, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field, or be a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist.
• Six months to one year of related crisis experience.
• Effective communication skills via written, verbal, in-person, and virtual methods.
• High-level customer service skills and professional etiquette.
• Knowledge and competency in providing service linkage and referrals for programs, services, and community resources.
• Knowledge of suicide assessments and skill in providing crisis intervention.
