The Role
As a Database Support Engineer, you will be the primary point of contact for our customers, providing deep technical support and guidance on the use of TimescaleDB. You will work closely with our customers to understand their needs, develop solutions, and ensure that they are successful in their use of our product. Your expertise will be invaluable in helping us to continuously improve our product, processes, and culture.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide exceptional support to customers, responding to a wide range of topics from basic administration of TimescaleDB to deep consultative conversations around design, optimization, and implementation.
- Manage support cases from beginning to end, ensuring that customers receive timely and effective resolutions to their issues.
- Develop and maintain close relationships with our customers, understanding their needs and providing tailored solutions to help them achieve their goals.
- Collaborate with our internal teams to identify and prioritize product enhancements, ensuring that our customers receive the best possible experience.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in time-series data and database technology, applying this knowledge to improve our product and services.
What We're Looking For
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
- Relational DB experience at scale: administration, data modeling, query optimization, etc.
- Experience as a technical support professional with external customers.
- Strong aptitude to understand and learn new software products.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to express complex technical concepts to a varied audience.
Nice to Have
* Familiarity with TimescaleDB and experience with its use in production environments.
- Experience with broad cloud computing concepts and experience with AWS, GCP, and Azure.
- Experience with Relational databases, NoSQL databases, and data modeling tools.
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL, including best practices, Query Plan analysis, backup/restore, migrations, etc.
- A strong sense of curiosity and a willingness to wade into the unknown and learn as you go.
